However, for some, Christmas can be a very lonely and sad day, or one filled with much anxiety. While others,  may feel the financial burden that Christmas may bring, and others may feel isolated from family, or some are going through grief over the loss of a loved one. It is important to be aware of these thoughts and feelings and to ensure that we are looking after our own well-being so as we may have some enjoyment during this time.

Below are five Tiviti Tips to help you throughout the festive season:

Set Out a Budget

Christmas can be an expensive time of the year so setting a budget will ensure that you do not spend more than needed. Avoid adding any extra pressure. See if your family are open to Kris Kringle as a way of cutting out the amount of presents you may need to buy.

Recognise Your Stress and Negative Thought Patterns

It is important to recognize when you are feeling stressed and ensuring you practice your relaxation techniques and also write down your thoughts and challenge them in a more positive way.

Get Enough Sleep

During this busy time, it is important we allow ourselves the time to re-charge our batteries. Ensure you stick to your sleep schedule.

Delegate Tasks to Others

You don’t have to complete everything yourself. If you are not coping, ask for help from family and friends. Let them help you with completing some of the tasks.

Remind Yourself You are Not Alone

There is always someone we can reach out to if we are struggling. Ensure you stay connected with those who you find supportive during this stressful period. If you are finding it difficult speak to your GP about a referral to a psychologist.

Finally, remember everything DOES NOT need to be perfect. Life isn’t perfect and neither should you. Make sure you take time out and be kind to yourself!
